 This Texting Terms of Use Policy applies when you agree to receive text messages from the Framingham Heart Study.

The Framingham Heart Study values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Texting Terms of Use Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the information you provide when you opt-in to receive text messages from us.

When you opt-in to receive text messages, we will collect your phone number

We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with other researchers or third parties, except as required by law or as you authorized based on the Research Consent Form that you signed most recently.

We use your information to:

    • Schedule exam visits.
    • Send exam visit reminders.
    • Send reminders to complete study forms.
    • Communicate with you in response to your inquiries.

 Opting Out

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any text message. After opting out, you will no longer receive text messages from us unless you re-subscribe.

 Data Protection

Our vendor uses industry-standard practices to secure your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

 Terms and Conditions for Text Messaging

By opting in to Framingham Heart Study text messaging service, you agree to these terms and conditions:

  1. Opt-In Consent

By providing your phone number and opting in, you consent to receive recurring text messages, including appointment reminders and responses to your customer service inquiries from Framingham Heart Study. Message frequency may vary.

Framingham Heart Study will be collecting opt-in verbally from customers. Customers will be able to opt in to receive messages either in person at our physical location, or over a phone call if the customer calls. When a customer is registered for the first time, they are asked to provide the phone number, and staff is trained to ask If the customer would like to opt in to SMS-based notifications. They will be verbally informed that, “Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. Text HELP for support or more information and STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Their phone number will not be shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Refer to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use online.

You are responsible for providing accurate contact information. We are not responsible for any issues caused by incorrect information.

The Framingham Heart Study is not liable for any delays, failures, or issues caused by your mobile carrier or system failures.

Your information will be handled and protected as described in the Research Consent Form that you signed most recently.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of our text messaging service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
