Picture Description Test. You will be given a picture to look at and then asked to describe it in detail. Your description will be recorded as part of the research. We will be downloading an app to your phone which will periodically prompt you to complete interactive tasks on your phone. changes in brain health through an app. The app will prompt you to complete cognitive and voice tasks periodically.

You will be asked to do a written test where you will be given medication instructions and then you design the plan for when to take the medications. You will do a similar task with an actual pill box and pretend pills. You will be asked to distribute the pills into the divided pill box according to the created medication schedule. These tests are designed to assess your ability to understand and take medications according to a prescribed schedule. The proposed study will help to assess the potential of MSA errors and MSA overestimation as an early indicator of cognitive impairment, disability, and adverse health outcomes. The last part of this station is a brief pen-and-pencil self-rating following this test. You will also be asked to complete a timed, 7-minute survey assessing health literacy (Health literacy is your ability to read, understand, and act on health care information.) If your spouse is also an FHS participant and attends the exam with you, we will also ask them to complete a short questionnaire assessing the approximate amount of time they spend assisting you in your daily life [5 mins]. We believe participation in this entire activity will take no longer than 20 minutes.

This study is taking images of your retina through ocular tomography. This device may be familiar to you as it is commonly used in routine eye exams. For your purposes, our images will be focusing more on the vascular structure in the retina. The research goal is to assess retinal biomarkers as risks to cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s.
