Dr. Vanessa Xanthakis, an FHS Investigator and Assistant Professor of Medicine and Biostatistics at Boston University’s Schools of Medicine and Public Health, in Boston, MA, notes in her research team’s article appearing online ahead of print in May and in the June 2020 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, that maintaining a higher level of cardiorespiratory fitness in young adulthood is associated with a lower risk of chronic kidney disease later in life. She stresses this makes it imperative for younger people to maintain a lifestyle that includes regular exercise.
