FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Heart Study plans to resume in-person examinations Aug. 31, several months after researchers suspended in-person visits for the first time during an exam cycle due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In-person examinations at the Mt. Wayte Avenue research center were temporarily suspended March 13 due to safety concerns associated with the ongoing pandemic.
Heart study staff have monitored several factors in determining when to resume in-person visits, including the state’s rolling averages of positive cases, the number of hospitalizations, the number of deaths, how many intensive care unit beds are available in the state, the testing capacity and contact tracing.
